Abstract

Tao-Klarjeti is Georgia’s biggest concern. The author, as a creative chronicler of the epoch, clearly conveys the spirit and aspirations of the nation. In his poetry, Zurab Gorgiladze as a passionate son of his country placed a special emphasis on his heartbreak. When reading the poet’s poems, we become convinced that he as a lyrical hero never abandons his country. The intensity of Zurab Gorgiladze’s passion is nurtured by the historical past of his native land. The son of Adjara feels this pain more intensely because the sadness caused by being torn from his roots is very familiar to him. The author is conscious of the hardships of his homeland, but he is worried that all he can offer is his poetic word. That is why he, as a mediator between God and man, and as a leader of the nation, uses the word as the only tool, urging the people to embrace vigilance, sensibility, and unity. The poet assures the reader that in spite of many hardships, the land of Tao-Klarjeti - “conversing with God like a vine” - will surely recover and regenerate. The paper thematically examines the lyrical heritage of the poet, which is dedicated to the theme of Tao-Klarjeti.
